Tim Marrs Artwork

This image really speaks to me because it show that the big man is always being lead by the little man, he shows this by having a motorcycle being pulled along by push bike. It really explains the way that big corporations like Apple or Microsoft cannot run without the small companies helping to run them.

Evaluation of Assignment

This assignment was to create a campaign to free chickens from battery farms across the country, we had to create an ethical poster, create a logo for the campaign and make an egg box with the logo and an explanation of what free range means.

First we looked at what type of living conditions chickens live in and what happens to chickens in battery farm, we were asked to create an ethical poster which is a poster that gives a strong message that will change someone’s views on eating chicken and make them think twice about what type of eggs they buy, we could put 1 of 2 slogans on the poster, “The Great ‘Egg’s cape” or “Batteries Not Included” I chose the great ‘egg’scape because it is a play on words from the great escape, I decided to make a poster based on the great escape specifically  the scene in which Steve McQueen jumps over the fence on a motorbike.

This poster is loosely based on the great escape where Steve McQueen jumps over the fence using a motorbike, but instead of McQueen it is a chicken.

I chose this design because it is comical but is also based on a movie that most people know; also it gives off the message of letting the chickens be free. I used Rosewood Std font for the main message and Sherwood font for the secondary text. I couldn’t make the chickens move behind the fence so I place them in front of it and placed secondary chain link fence panels in front so it gave off the illusion that they were locked behind the fence, for the chicken on the motorbike I simply placed the chicken just on top of it and created a second layer to use a motion blur and make it look like the bike was flying through the air.

I think the client would like this because it really speaks to the audience and they will hopefully get the great escape reference, the poster uses a comical but also a clever reference to a classic movie.

I created this poster using Adobe Photoshop because it was easier to use than Illustrator or InDesign, I looked at other campaigns for freeing chickens and compared them to my ideas so that I didn’t use anything that had been used before, I wanted my poster to be original but also I wanted to make it stand out.

We then had to create a logo for our campaign to put onto our egg box

Chicken campaign

This is a poster i created for graphics, it is based on the cruelty upon chickens in battery farms across Britain and the US, i based the look of the poster on the famous scene in the great escape where the motorcycle jumps over the fence. This poster uses comedy but also shows sadness by including chickens still being kept in cages.

HMV bag- Evaluation

For this assignment we were asked to create an icons of pop bag/poster for HMV, we were given a list of all the top 100 artists of the past century and had to pick one to base our poster on, I picked U2 The Joshua Tree and used the image of all the band members together to show that they were icons of pop.

We were then asked to create a paper bag with our designs on it, I couldn’t pick just one artist to do so I used typography art to create the HMV logo using the artists names, I did come up with the idea to do the same thing except with a transparent collage of all the album arts but it didn’t go according to plan so I scrapped the idea.

I personally think the design was pretty well made and I don’t think I could have done any better, I think that HMV would use this idea because it stands out to the music lovers and also shows all the top artist of the last century. I chose this design because I think it stands out other then other normal artwork.

Originally I had drawn the design by hand to look and see what the logo would look like, I then used adobe InDesign to create the main HMV logo and then used Photoshop to create the bag. The artwork was created to specific specifications as it had the correct resolution for printing and the correct dimensions.

I also created another HMV typography logo except with a black background instead of a white one.
